Williamson County approves $674M Blue Origin facility in Hutto
The Texas state government still must approve the deal, which would cover about 1.0 million square feet of industrial research space and support up to 2,000 jobs over 10 years.
ConnectCRE reports that Williamson County’s full board of commissioners approved a previously agreed economic development item with Blue Origin, increasing the odds the company will build a $674 million facility in Hutto, within Williamson County.
The remaining step requires approval from the State of Texas, according to the report. If cleared, Blue Origin would construct roughly one million square feet of industrial research space tied to aerospace and defense at Hutto Crossing industrial park.
ConnectCRE said the project is expected to create as many as 2,000 jobs over 10 years. The deal would include a county tax abatement, with 100.0% of real property and 50.0% of personal property taxes abated in the first five years, followed by 50.0% real property tax abatement in the last five years.
Blue Origin, founded in 2000, develops reusable rocket technology intended to reduce the cost of space travel and make it more accessible, the outlet noted.
