Alibaba shares plunge after $10.2 billion share placement for AI push

The placement is intended to fund Alibaba’s expanding AI investment plans, after the deal was priced at $10.2 billion.

Alibaba shares fell about 10% after the company priced a $10.2 billion share placement aimed at supporting its growing AI investments, CNBC Markets reported.

The issuance adds new supply to the market as Alibaba raises capital to finance its AI push, coinciding with the sharp drop in trading.

CNBC also reported the move across its other business desks, highlighting that the pricing of the placement came ahead of the shares’ decline.
