Alliant hires Rick George to lead benefits strategy role
George comes from J.B. Hunt Transport, where he spent 38 years in benefits management, including building the enrollment systems and claims analytics infrastructure used for large-scale coverage.
Alliant Insurance Services has appointed Rick George as first vice president within its Employee Benefits Group, effective July 2026, based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, according to Insurance Business. The hire brings long experience from the employer side rather than from the insurance brokerage industry, with George joining from J.B. Hunt Transport.
George spent 38 years at J.B. Hunt, starting as benefits manager in 1988 and leaving in June 2026 as senior director of benefits and wellness. During his tenure, he also served as director of HRMS, work that included running benefits data infrastructure such as enrollment systems, vendor reporting, and claims analytics.
Insurance Business notes that George’s background managing benefits for a large, geographically dispersed, mostly hourly workforce is particularly relevant as employer health costs have come under greater scrutiny. It cites Aon’s projection from September 2025 that US employer health costs would rise 9.5% in 2026 to more than $17,000 per employee.
The coverage environment is also pushing employers toward cost reduction, with a referenced Lockton survey finding 54% of employers rank cost reduction as their top benefits priority, up from 38% in 2025. Insurance Business reports that George’s mandate at Alliant will cover employers nationwide, focusing on benefits strategy tied to workforce experience, organizational culture, and long-term cost management.
