Bitcoin holds above $77,000 as altcoin surge cools
U.S.-listed spot crypto ETFs attracted $2.6 billion over the week, including $1.92 billion in bitcoin fund inflows and $697 million for ether.
Bitcoin traded near $77,300 on Monday and held its 22% weekly gain, even as the prior week’s strongest altcoins steadied after their rally, according to CoinDesk market data.
XRP was around $1.48, up 48% on the week, while Zcash hovered near $838 after a 70% weekly surge, with both assets leveling off rather than extending gains.
CoinDesk pointed to demand and policy catalysts behind last week’s move, including a U.S. Treasury bond buyback expansion to $4 billion, a White House meeting that supported crypto, and President Trump backing the CLARITY Act ahead of its September vote.
CoinDesk also cited ETF-related momentum, saying Grayscale’s spot Zcash ETF filing helped power ZEC’s run, and noted attention is shifting to Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole debut as investors gauge the outlook for rates.
