Hong Kong says typhoon signal unlikely as storms bring unsettled weather
The Hong Kong Observatory expects midweek showers and squally thunderstorms, with occasionally strong offshore and high-ground winds.
Hong Kong is unlikely to see its weather forecaster issue a typhoon signal in the next two days, though several tropical systems are expected to bring unsettled conditions later this week, according to the city’s Observatory.
At noon on Monday, the Observatory said Tropical Storm Narra was expected to skirt the coast of the Leizhou Peninsula in western Guangdong, while maintaining some distance from Hong Kong.
The Observatory also said Hong Kong could experience showers and squally thunderstorms in the middle of the week under the influence of a southerly airstream, with occasionally strong winds offshore and on high ground.
It added that another system near Taiwan, Tropical Depression Gaenari, was relatively weak and had a small circulation.
