Ex-X product chief says X crypto charts will soon add trade buttons

Nikita Bier, the former head of product at X who left the company on Aug. 5, said trade buttons are coming to crypto charts embedded in X posts, according to The Defiant.

Bier said the feature would be integrated into the Cashtags experience he helped build, including the ability to add Solana and Ethereum charts directly into posts. He also said users could paste contract addresses for newly minted tokens, and that there had not been a crypto trading feature on X before he joined. The outlet notes Bier provided no timeline for when the buttons would arrive.

The Defiant reports that Bier’s claim lacks corporate backing, pointing to the fact that X has not posted announcements about crypto trading features through official X accounts or product pages, and that there is no corporate documentation in help-center materials related to Cashtags.

The outlet also highlights that Bier previously walked back language implying X would enable direct trading. In February, he wrote that X was launching features to trade stocks and crypto directly from the timeline, then corrected himself nine hours later, saying X was not acting as a brokerage and was only building financial data tools and links, leaving ambiguity over whether any trade buttons would route orders to an outside broker or execute orders on X.
