Phoenix Security Building to be converted into 255-room hotel
The 1928 building will get a $135 million renovation and include 15,000 square feet of meeting space, with a planned opening in Q4 2028.
Phoenix developers CivicGroup and Sunflower Development are converting the 1928 Security Building, a former office tower, into a hotel, according to ConnectCRE.
The project calls for a $135 million renovation to create 255 hotel rooms, plus 15,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 5,500-square-foot 1928 ballroom.
The redevelopment will also add multiple food-and-beverage outlets, including several bars, a three-meal restaurant, and an upscale eatery, ConnectCRE reported.
Because the building is currently owned by Maricopa County, the county will continue to lease it to the development team as a hotel for at least 20 years, with development planned to begin in the first quarter of 2027 and opening targeted for Q4 2028.
