Ethereum developers propose upgrade to quantum-proof staking

Ethereum developers are proposing changes to staking aimed at making the system more resilient to future quantum computing risks, according to Decrypt.
The plan centers on overhauling the deposit contract so validator keys can grow to 8,192 bytes, and adding a mechanism that permanently retires the current BLS signature scheme used today.
If adopted, the switch would move staking away from today95s BLS signatures, effectively changing the cryptographic foundation for validators as part of the deposit process.
Decrypt said the proposal would be implemented through updates to the deposit contract, rather than requiring a direct replacement of staking software alone.
