HomeServices adds in-house mortgage servicing through Prosperity

HomeServices of America said it is adding in-house mortgage servicing through its wholly owned lender, Prosperity Home Mortgage, as part of its OnePoint strategy to expand beyond the closing table. HousingWire reports the company wants to keep borrowers and real estate professionals within a single ecosystem from home search through the life of the loan.

The announcement says Prosperity Home Mortgage originates nearly $9 billion in mortgages annually across about 21,000 transactions. HousingWire reports that servicing is intended to reduce the post-close handoffs that typically occur when originators sell servicing rights to third parties after closing.

HomeServices also said the move is designed to maintain borrower continuity and cut down the number of transfers consumers experience after they buy a home. The company said servicing should help it remain connected with customers for payment processing, questions, escrow administration, and future financing needs.

HousingWire notes the initiative reflects a broader trend of large real estate platforms seeking to control more of the housing transaction and the post-close relationship in-house. HomeServices is positioning OnePoint to keep consumers linked to the same network of professionals for future moves, refinances, and referrals.
