Lockton appoints Owen Meaney as U.S. Parametric Leader
The hire supports Lockton’s ongoing build-out of its parametric insurance and risk transfer practice, including a global unit launched in late 2024.
Lockton, an independent insurance and reinsurance broker, has hired Owen Meaney, a former business development specialist at Descartes Underwriting, as its new U.S. Parametric Leader. Artemis reports Meaney began the role in August as an Assistant Vice President at Lockton.
Lockton said it has been investing in its parametric insurance and risk transfer capabilities in recent years and established a Global Parametric Insurance Practice in late 2024. The broker is strengthening its teams to deliver customised parametric insurance and reinsurance solutions for exposures that traditional coverage often cannot address.
According to Artemis, Meaney previously spent more than three years at Descartes Underwriting, joining in 2023 as a Business Development Analyst before becoming AVP of Business Development in July 2025. Before Descartes, he worked at USI Insurance Services as a Commercial Lines Account Representative and earlier as an operations intern at Marsh.
Artemis also notes that parametric solutions are viewed as an ongoing growth opportunity across insurance and reinsurance markets, with brokerage firms expanding dedicated units to grow their parametric risk transfer and insurance expertise.
