Space startups raised $11.3 billion in VC funding through June 2026

PitchBook says the median space VC round rose to $14.5 million in the first half of 2026, with 87.4% of investment in venture-growth and late-stage deals.

Venture funding for space startups topped 2025 levels in the first six months of 2026, as investors shifted toward companies they view as closer to manufacturing and production, according to PitchBook data cited by Yahoo Finance.

Space companies raised $11.3 billion across 244 deals through June, surpassing the $10.1 billion invested across 433 deals in all of 2025. The article notes the growth was driven more by larger financings than by a comparable surge in total dealmaking.

The median round more than doubled to $14.5 million from $7.0 million last year. Venture-growth and late-stage deals accounted for 87.4% of total investment, with commercial launch companies taking about $3.0 billion in H1, satellites raising $2.8 billion, and space infrastructure drawing $1.2 billion.

Yahoo Finance also frames the trend as a move toward treating space tech as an industrial scale-up market. The piece adds that the funding boom may leave open whether enough new early-stage companies are being produced to sustain the sector's long term pipeline.
