Thai baht rallies but BoT sensitivity may cap near term gains
USD/THB is nearing oversold conditions ahead of a Bank of Thailand meeting, with support cited around 32.30.
OCBC analysts Sim Moh Siong and Christopher Wong said the Thai baht has strengthened to a two month high, helped by a softer US dollar, lower oil prices, strong electronics exports, and gold related flows.
They cautioned that further appreciation may be limited as USD/THB edges toward oversold conditions and the Bank of Thailand meeting approaches, with policymakers sensitive to excessive currency strength.
The note also flagged technical levels, citing resistance at 32.87, and 33.14, with support at 32.30 and a further area near 35.
FXStreet included additional perspective that daily bearish momentum remains intact while RSI is near oversold, suggesting consolidation could occur in the interim before the BoT decision on Wednesday.
