US consulates cancel some immigrant visa interviews for rescheduling

Applicants told of cancellations were advised that late-September interview appointments were not yet affected, and to keep checking email for updates.

People in China expressed frustration and disbelief after American consulates began cancelling some immigrant visa interviews worldwide, creating another delay for people waiting to enter the United States legally, according to SCMP Economy.

An immigration agent posting on RedNote said clients with interviews scheduled later this week received email notifications that their appointments were cancelled and would be rescheduled, while appointments scheduled for late September were reported as unaffected for now, the outlet said.

The agent also said the situation was not limited to Guangzhou, with similar cancellations reported at other consulates, and applicants were advised to monitor emails for further changes.

SCMP Economy reported that internet users described finding out at the consulate or arriving only to discover the interview had been cancelled.
