Willis hires for banking and digital assets risk business development
The Chicago-based hire, Paul Haas, starts at Willis on August 10 and will focus on Midwest financial institutions, including risk at the banking and digital assets intersection.
Willis, a WTW business, appointed Paul Haas as senior director of business development in Chicago, tasking him with leading new business development across the Midwest, with a focus on financial institutions risk where banking and digital assets converge.
According to Insurance Business, Haas joined Willis on August 10 after 15 years in the industry, most recently as vice president at Marsh McLennan advising banking and finance clients, and previously at Lockton working on complex exposures including digital assets.
The brokerage tied the hire to how quickly the Midwest financial institutions market is evolving and noted that risk in the overlap between banking and digital assets remains an underdeveloped specialty, with many large brokerages still treating crypto and digital asset custody risk as a less central line of business.
Insurance Business also reported internal moves at other firms, including promotions at Ames & Gough for its Washington, DC office, with Tracy Benson, Christine Gibboni, and Baynard Stanchina raised to assistant vice president roles focused on design professional clients.
