MSIG Hong Kong names Billy Wong chief underwriting officer

Wong will take over on 2 September 2026, leading the underwriting team and Specialty Lines to strengthen underwriting capabilities and portfolio performance.

MSIG Hong Kong announced the appointment of Billy Wong as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), effective 2 September 2026. The insurer said Wong will lead its Underwriting Department and Specialty Lines to further strengthen underwriting capabilities, enhance portfolio performance, and deliver greater value to customers and business partners.

The company said Wong brings nearly two decades of insurance experience across retail and commercial lines. It highlighted his background in underwriting, portfolio management, pricing, reinsurance, and product development, along with experience strengthening underwriting discipline and driving sustainable business growth in Hong Kong and Greater China.

Wong will join MSIG Hong Kong after an eight-year tenure at AXA, where he most recently served as Chief Underwriting Officer, General Insurance for AXA Hong Kong & Macau. Before that, he held roles including Head of Property Underwriting for Greater China at AXA XL, and later became Head of P&C Technical Underwriting for AXA Hong Kong & Macau, and P&C Technical Underwriting Director within that team.

MSIG Hong Kong added that Wong has also worked at Zurich and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty earlier in his career, and has led teams across underwriting functions.
