Munich Re highlights loss prevention, resilience push for insurers

The white paper argues insurers are shifting toward earlier action as natural catastrophes intensify and climate risks evolve.

Munich Re published a white paper that frames insurance resilience as a continuous effort that goes beyond paying claims, emphasizing proactive loss prevention, advanced risk intelligence, and collaboration to reduce losses before disasters occur.

The company says insurers are responding as natural catastrophes become more frequent and severe, climate risks change, and interrelated exposures create new challenges, and it points to work with clients, communities, government officials, researchers, and other stakeholders.

The paper also cites developments driving new insurance demand, including the expansion of AI-driven data centers stretching beyond what the traditional P&C industry has previously experienced, according to AM Best.

It further references safety and training gaps in construction, noting that firms with fewer than 20 employees make up more than 90% of construction payroll and face disproportionately higher fatal and nonfatal injury rates, according to CPWR, while Pie Insurance research points to differences in how employers and employees prioritize training, communication, and safety.
