Spot bitcoin and ether ETFs see strong weekly inflows amid crypto surge
Spot bitcoin ETFs added $2.0 billion in net inflows last week, while spot ether ETFs collected nearly $900 million, even as year to date bitcoin flows are down $2.5 billion.
ETF Prime discussed how the crypto ETF market is responding to a broader risk-on move, including a catalyst tied to Treasury action. According to ETF Trends, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced plans to double long-end bond buybacks to at least $4 billion per operation, weakening the dollar and fueling a debasement trade that contributed to a short squeeze.
The show highlighted that prices and flows have moved together recently. Bitcoin reached $80,000 over the stretch described, while Ethereum and Solana each gained more than 30%, and Hyperliquid surged nearly 50%, ETF Trends said. On the flows side, spot bitcoin ETFs pulled in $2 billion in net inflows last week, and spot ether ETFs added nearly $900 million.
ETF Trends also noted that the market remains uneven across time. Year to date, spot bitcoin ETF flows are still down $2.5 billion, and flows have settled into a barbell pattern, with iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) anchoring one end, and lower-cost newcomers such as the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin ETF (MSBT) drawing the other.
Separately, the program pointed to how fund providers are refining product lines. ETF Trends said REX Osprey closed its staked ether and bitcoin ETFs, and Grayscale withdrew filings for Cardano, Polkadot, and Hedera ETFs, framing the shift as demand concentration rather than declining interest, while Hyperliquid ETFs launched in May drew roughly $300 million in inflows.
The episode also covered asset manager SEI’s ETF expansion. ETF Trends said SEI’s ETF lineup grew from $2.5 billion to over $9 billion in the past 12 months, citing single-factor funds with three-year track records, model portfolio integration, and advisor network demand, and it referenced flagship strategies including two 15 basis point factor ETFs plus its LEND alternative credit ETF.
