Suncorp reshuffles leadership, creates AI-linked distribution role

The Australian insurer also moved executives across Commercial & Personal Injury, Consumer Insurance, and elevated its Chief Risk Officer seat to the executive leadership team.

Australian insurer Suncorp announced a leadership reshuffle that includes a newly created executive role focused on customer distribution, brand, and digital operations. The company named Bridget Messer to lead Chief Executive Customer, Brand and Digital, a position designed to help Suncorp use artificial intelligence to support faster, more efficient distribution of insurance products and services, according to Reinsurance News.

Messer previously served as Chief Risk Officer and will take over the new function, which brings together existing brand, marketing, and digital distribution teams, the outlet said. Suncorp added that the move is intended to help it better capitalize on the competitive advantage of its suite of market-leading brands.

As part of the reorganization, Lisa Harrison, formerly Chief Executive of Consumer Insurance, will lead Suncorp’s Commercial & Personal Injury portfolios and retain accountability for rolling out the company’s Digital Insurer program. Michael Miller will move from Chief Executive Commercial & Personal Injury to Chief Executive, Consumer Insurance, Reinsurance News reported.

The changes also expand the executive leadership team, with Michelle Bain, Executive General Manager of Compulsory Third Party Insurance, joining as Chief Risk Officer. Reinsurance News said Bain has held senior roles including Acting Group General Counsel, Executive General Manager Compliance, and Group Customer Advocate.
