U.S. natural gas production forecast points to record levels in 2026

The U.S. Energy Information Administration projects marketed gas output will average 122.5 Bcf/d in 2026, topping the 2025 record of 118.5 Bcf/d.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says the United States is on track for record marketed natural gas production in 2026.

According to the EIA, marketed natural gas production is forecast to average 122.5 billion cubic feet per day in 2026, exceeding the previous record of 118.5 Bcf/d set in 2025.

The projection is published in the EIA’s August 2026 Short-Term Energy Outlook.
