Al Dahra and Egypt’s GASC sign 5-year $500M wheat supply deal
The agreement, signed Aug. 26, sets terms for GASC to receive imported wheat under an existing financing program backed by the Abu Dhabi Exports Office.
Al Dahra Agriculture Trading, a unit of Al Dahra Holding, and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) have signed a five-year wheat supply agreement valued at $500 million, supporting an operational framework for imported wheat deliveries to GASC.
World Grain reports the deal was signed at the Cabinet of Ministers Headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, and it builds on a partnership initially established in 2023. Under the arrangement, wheat will be supplied to GASC through an existing financing program supported by the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX).
The signing ceremony was attended by Sherif Mohamed Farouk, Egypt’s minister of Supply and Internal Trade and chairman of GASC, and Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, Al Dahra’s co-founder and managing director. ADEX said it plans to use innovative financing solutions to facilitate trade and strengthen economic cooperation.
World Grain also notes that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service projects Egypt’s wheat imports for marketing year 2026-27 at 12.5 million tonnes, a 1.6% decrease from the prior year, reflecting a forecasted rise in Egypt’s domestic production to 9.8 million tonnes. Separately, Green Acres Milling is set to begin operating an oat mill with annual production capacity of 39,420 tonnes of finished oat products.
