Citi flags catalysts for Oracle after nearly 40% sell-off

Citi analyst Tyler Radke kept a $330 price target and pointed to AI demand plus margin and pricing read-throughs from Oracle’s neocloud efforts into earnings and an investor day in late October.

Oracle shares have been hit by an extended sell-off, with Yahoo Finance highlighting that the stock is down close to 40% over the past 12 months. In a Wednesday note, Citi analyst Tyler Radke opened what he described as a positive catalyst watch on Oracle (ORCL), keeping his $330 price target unchanged.

Radke said the pullback reflected extreme dislocations and drawdowns driven by investor capitulation and multiple technical selling factors. He also tied potential upside to continued robust AI demand, along with margin and pricing read-throughs from Oracle’s neoclouds, which he expects to support positive estimate revisions leading into earnings and Oracle’s investor day in late October.

The market debate centers on whether Oracle’s AI growth expectations are becoming too aggressive, even as the company continues signing large cloud infrastructure deals and benefits from demand for AI computing capacity. Investors also worry Oracle may need heavy spending on data centers, networking equipment, and power infrastructure, which could pressure margins and cash flow in the near term, according to Yahoo Finance.

Competition is another pressure point, with the outlet noting intense rivalry from Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud as buyers evaluate how much market share Oracle can capture during the AI boom. Yahoo Finance also cited AlphaSpace data showing roughly 86% of sell-side analysts covering Oracle rate the stock Strong Buy or Buy, while Barbara Doran of BD8 Capital Partners warned that execution, customer concentration, and debt concerns could be significant, including a recent downgrade by S&P to triple-B minus.
