Pen Underwriting partners with Hadron UK for thatched and leisure property cover
The multi-year deal starts 1 September 2026 and is expected to support £50 million of underwriting in UK thatched and leisure risks over three years.
Pen Underwriting, a UK-based managing general agent, has partnered with Hadron UK Insurance Company Limited to provide underwriting capacity for Pen’s established thatched and personal leisure property risks business.
The partnership is set to take effect on 1 September 2026 and will enable Pen to write £50 million in UK thatched property and leisure risks over the next three years, drawing on the team’s 25 years of specialist sector experience.
Coverage will target non-standard construction assets across the UK, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man, including thatched homes, beach huts, chalets, park homes, and both touring and static caravans. The agreement also extends Flood Re capability to all eligible properties.
Pen said the offering is designed to support brokers and homeowners facing a more restricted market, with risk-management services such as surveys and inspections aimed at improving resilience and preventing losses, particularly through fire and flood. Reinsurance News reported that Pen will distribute the solutions via a mix of brokers and specialist coverholders with delegated authority.
