Trump actions stall offshore wind projects, creating worker uncertainty

OilPrice reports that President Trump has strongly criticized wind power since taking office, using multiple executive actions to restrict wind farm development, with offshore wind a key target.

The outlet says several offshore wind projects have been put on hold or cancelled, leaving workers facing job insecurity and raising the risk of more permanent cancellations.

OilPrice adds that many oil and gas workers were encouraged to train for renewable energy roles during prior green energy expansion, supported by policies under the Biden administration and the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.

The piece notes clean energy jobs increased by almost 12.0% between 2021 and the end of 2024, from 3.2 million to 3.6 million workers, while oil and gas jobs fell by about 20.0% between 2015 and 2025, a decline of 252,000 positions.
