Bridges Real Estate buys Vredenburg 17-19 in Utrecht for €17.3M
The mixed-use property totals 6,300 square meters of lettable space across retail, leisure, and business uses, and is intended for long-term value creation through active management.
Bridges Real Estate has purchased Vredenburg 17-19, a mixed-use building in central Utrecht, as it continues investing in select locations where it sees long-term value potential, according to Bisnow.
The deal covers 6,300 square meters of lettable space spread across retail, leisure, and business uses. Tenants listed include fashion retailer Bomont, Dutch Gym and Meeting Center Vredenburg, and the building sits in a high-footfall area that links the train station to the historic center.
Bridges acquired the property from Redevco for €17.3M, VGvisie reported. The acquisition comes as the Netherlands has seen fewer retail shops over time, while other categories such as hospitality, leisure, and business services have remained relatively steady.
Bisnow also cited data showing retail turnover increased 3.1% year-over-year in the second quarter of 2026, with nonfood retail up 3.5% and retail bankruptcies falling to 59, the lowest level in three years, per CBS. In Utrecht’s city center, retail vacancy by floor space dropped from 8.7% to 5.3% by 2025, near a 5% vacancy benchmark, according to the Utrecht Monitor retail report.
