Gatwick Airport restores water after burst main disrupts supply

Gatwick Airport said passengers were left without water after a burst main in a nearby field cut water supply to both terminals, according to BBC Business.

SES Water reported it located the burst main in Horley and started restoring supply, with water pressure beginning to return to normal, while the airport said the issue was under investigation.

The outage led to toilets being closed in the North Terminal, while most toilets in the South Terminal were unaffected; the disruption also caused delays and forced some food and beverage outlets to close, BBC Business added.

The BBC noted this follows a major water supply outage in July tied to a power failure at a treatment works, and that SES Water later said it restored supplies by rerouting its network as it worked with the airport to minimize the impact.
