Guy Carpenter appoints Jessica Ciak as healthcare segment SVP
Ciak is tasked with focusing on the US medical professional liability sector, reporting to Healthcare Segment leader Martha Jacobs.
Guy Carpenter, a global risk and reinsurance specialist, has named Jessica Ciak senior vice president within its Healthcare Segment, where she will focus on the US Medical Professional Liability sector.
Ciak, based in Minneapolis, reports to Martha Jacobs, the firm’s Healthcare Segment leader. Guy Carpenter said the appointment comes as clients navigate challenges in medical malpractice insurance, including record-setting verdicts, plaintiff-favorable legislation, rising severity trends, and reinsurance capacity pressures.
Guy Carpenter said Ciak joins from BMS Group, where she most recently served as a senior vice president. The firm noted she brings more than 25 years of reinsurance experience, including treaty reinsurance across property/casualty products and a recent focus on specialty lines such as medical professional liability.
In comments carried by Risk & Insurance, Ciak said she is joining during a critical time for the medical professional liability market and plans to apply Guy Carpenter’s market intelligence, data and analytics, and placement strength to help clients navigate the environment.
