Higginbotham adds retirement and wealth services via Two West tie-up
The acquisition adds a retirement and wealth management arm alongside Higginbotham’s commercial insurance and employee benefits as U.S. retirement assets reached $47.6 trillion in Q1 2026.
Higginbotham, the Texas-based insurance group, is expanding into retirement and wealth management through a combination with Two West Capital Advisors, with the aim of serving a broader set of middle-market employers, Insurance Business reports.
Two West will continue to be based in Kansas City and serve existing clients, while its employees will become employee-owners of Higginbotham. Higginbotham says the Two West team and operating platform will be folded into its retirement planning and wealth management division.
The deal gives Higginbotham an additional financial services line alongside commercial property and casualty insurance and employee benefits without building retirement and wealth expertise from scratch. It also gives Two West access to Higginbotham’s national footprint and business relationships.
Insurance Business notes the move comes as major U.S. insurance brokerages deepen their retirement and wealth offerings to compete for the same employer relationships. The article cites Investment Company Institute data showing U.S. retirement assets of $47.6 trillion at the end of Q1 2026, including $13.8 trillion in employer-based defined contribution plans and $9.9 trillion in 401(k)s.
