Hong Kong to crack down on dog owners during weekend enforcement blitz
Hong Kong's Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department plans stepped-up inspections and enforcement in public places where dogs gather over two weekends, after a recent fighting dog was seized in Stanley.
Hong Kong authorities will take enforcement action against dog owners who fail to keep their pets under control during special operations this Sunday and the following weekend, after a spate of canine attacks, according to SCMP Economy.
The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said it seized a fighting dog at a restaurant in Stanley two days earlier following an inspection carried out in response to a complaint, and it said it would prosecute the owner if there was sufficient evidence of wrongdoing.
The department added that officers will step up inspections and enforcement at public places where dogs congregate during the operations, a spokesman said.
