Nifty 50 heads into week with cautious bias as FIIs sell

Foreign investors recorded net outflows of about ₹5,040 crore in the latest week, while domestic institutions bought roughly ₹5,184 crore to help steady the market.

Indian markets ended the week with the Nifty 50 extending its losing streak to three straight weeks, as sentiment stayed cautious amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty, crude oil price fluctuations, and uncertainty around the US monetary policy outlook, LiveMint Markets reports. The broader recovery was uneven even as the IT sector gained strength late in the week following robust Nvidia earnings, with weakness in several large-cap stocks limiting follow-through. Flows also remained mixed, with FIIs turning aggressive sellers on Friday and logging net outflows of around ₹5,040 crore. LiveMint Markets adds that DIIs helped offset that pressure, recording purchases of approximately ₹5,184 crore during the week. On a month-to-date basis, FIIs were marginal net buyers at about ₹454 crore after months of sustained foreign selling, while DIIs sustained strong buying with MTD inflows of roughly ₹79,620 crore, supporting the market’s stability. Technical research, via Vaishali Parekh of Prabhudas Lilladher, pointed to a resistance level near the 24,400 zone that should be breached decisively for a fresh upward move. On the downside, she flagged 23,800 as the key support area to maintain the overall trend, and recommended three stocks to consider under ₹100 for Monday: Paramount Communications, Dwarikesh Sugar Industries, and Bajaj Housing Finance.
