Hong Kong court ruling keeps Lim Por-yen estate fight alive
The late tycoon’s estate filed an appeal after losing a probate bid to validate a will said to have been signed in December 2004.
A 15-year legal dispute over the late Hong Kong tycoon Lim Por-yen’s HK$2.9 billion estate is set to continue after a Hong Kong court ruled that his third wife and their children were entitled to inherit part of his assets, according to the South China Morning Post. Lim Por-yen’s estate lodged an appeal after losing the legal battle last year. A representative for Pearl Ling Meng-chu, also known as Pearl Lam, said she is reviewing options and is not ruling out additional action. The probate case began in 2011 after both Ling and Lim Por-yen’s third wife, Koo Siu-ying, were named as defendants and each lodged a caveat asserting an interest in the estate. The estate had asked the court to validate a will purportedly signed by the tycoon in December 2004.
