Community Roots Housing and Kids Co. start early learning center in Seattle

The 7,761-square-foot center will be built at CopperLeaf Northgate, a transit-oriented affordable apartment community that opened earlier this year and is now fully leased.

Community Roots Housing and Kids Co. have begun construction on a new early learning center at CopperLeaf Northgate, one of Seattle’s newest affordable housing communities.

The project includes a 7,761-square-foot indoor facility and an outdoor play area, converting the ground-floor space at CopperLeaf into a purpose-built childcare environment.

Kids Co. said the development is its first standalone early learning center outside a Seattle Public Schools building, with construction led by Walsh Construction as general contractor and CAST Architecture handling architecture and interior design.

CopperLeaf’s location is adjacent to Northgate Station, and ConnectCRE notes the site is designed to connect residents to services and amenities, building on the vision behind the apartment building, which opened earlier this year and is now fully leased.
