Hindustan Copper completes Offer for Sale amid rallying copper prices
The company plans to invest ₹7,189 crore over five years to expand mining and processing capacity, targeting higher ore output by FY30/31.
Hindustan Copper has completed its Offer for Sale, with reports indicating the retail portion was subscribed more than seven times, according to LiveMint Markets. The outcome comes as metal stocks have stayed in focus on the London Metal Exchange rally.
Over the last one year, the stock has delivered strong returns tied to rising copper prices, and the company is positioned as India’s only vertically integrated copper producer. Hindustan Copper says it carries the full value chain from copper ore mining and beneficiation through smelting, refining, and production of refined copper products.
LiveMint Markets also points to long run demand drivers, including global electrification and spending across renewable power, power transmission, electric vehicles, batteries, electronics, and data centers. The article says management reiterated expansion plans, with an investment of ₹7,189 crore over five years aimed at lifting total copper ore production capacity from 4.21 million tonnes per annum to 12.20 MTPA by FY30/31.
The piece highlights recent performance for Q1 FY27, citing revenue up 82% year on year to ₹937 crore, net profit up 63% year on year to ₹353 crore, and EBITDA up 173% to ₹471 crore. It attributes the results to higher global copper prices, stronger ore production, better realizations, and improved operating efficiency, while cautioning that earnings can be volatile if copper prices correct.
