Reframe Systems raises $40M to expand robotics-enabled home microfactories

The funding will expand the company’s microfactory network across North America, targeting faster deliveries in New England and a long-term goal of 1 million homes by 2040.

HousingWire reports Reframe Systems raised $40 million led by Energy Impact Partners to expand its network of robotics-enabled homebuilding microfactories across North America.

The company says its “physical AI” approach uses small automated plants near demand centers to deliver homes three times faster and 35% cheaper than traditional construction, with software coordinating design and production and feeding data back to improve future projects.

HousingWire reports the capital will support faster home delivery in New England and fund additional microfactories in other regions, as Reframe targets production of 1 million homes worldwide by 2040, five years ahead of its original schedule.

The company said the effort aims to address a U.S. shortage estimated at about 4.5 million homes, pointing to labor and cycle time constraints from on-site building and a fragmented subcontractor chain, which has pushed more builders toward off-site construction methods.
