Starr appoints Liliane Wehbe to lead MENA casualty operations

Wehbe will be based in Dubai and is tasked with expanding Starr’s specialty casualty underwriting capabilities across the MENA region.

Starr has appointed Liliane Wehbe as Head of Casualty for the Middle East and North Africa, based in Dubai. Reinsurance News said the role will focus on developing the insurer’s regional specialty casualty offering.

Wehbe will lead efforts to drive growth and broaden solutions for Starr’s clients and brokers in MENA. The appointment is also positioned as a step toward expanding Starr’s underwriting capabilities across the region.

Before joining Starr, Wehbe served for the past two years as Assistant Vice President and Head of Casualty at Liberty Specialty Markets, also in Dubai. Starr said it expects her industry relationships and expertise to support the expansion plan.

Earlier this year, Starr named Xinwei Zhang as its Global Chief Operating Officer for Property, a move aimed at leading its globally aligned property operations function and supporting growth opportunities.
