Trump to meet US oil refiners to boost capacity and lower prices

The White House said the meeting is also timely as Venezuelan crude flow to US refineries increases, amid fuel-price pressure tied to the Iran war.

US President Donald Trump will meet with US oil refining executives on Tuesday, as the White House seeks to address fuel prices that it links to the Iran war and the impact on costs for American households ahead of November midterm elections, according to Agence France-Presse.

The White House said the discussions will focus on ways to increase refining capacity and expand actions along the supply chain to bring down prices for consumers.

A White House official separately said the talks are especially timely because Venezuelan crude flow is being increased to US refineries.

The White House did not name specific companies, but said the meeting will include a mix of small, medium, and large refiners and distributors.
