UK shop prices accelerate as energy costs lift food inflation

UK shop prices accelerated in August, as higher energy costs fed into food prices, according to a survey cited by the British Retail Consortium, reported by the Guardian Economics.

The trade body index showed in-store inflation rising to 1.5% year on year in August, after strengthening from the prior month.

The Guardian Economics also noted that the technology side of retail prices was under pressure, with AI chip demand making some technology items more expensive.
