Xceedance says insurers need more than AI to get business value
The interview argues that insurers should combine expert judgment, agentic AI, workflows, and core systems within a governed operating model to avoid siloed AI efforts.
Risk & Insurance and Xceedance hosted a video Q&A featuring Tim Queen, Chief Business Officer, Americas at Xceedance, focusing on why the next phase of insurance transformation requires more than AI alone.
Queen said insurers can unlock meaningful outcomes by pairing expert judgment with agentic AI, operational workflows, and data and core systems under a governed operating model, rather than relying on isolated AI pilots.
The discussion highlighted how stronger coordination across insurance processes, including the use of an RMIS, can reduce manual work and support cross functional decision making, specifically citing its role in aligning risk, safety, finance, operations, and IT.
The interview also pointed to rising cyber risk concerns, noting a steady increase in the share of C level leaders who say their organizations lack sufficient cyber protection, reaching 89% from 81% in 2021, according to Munich Re's Global Cyber Risk and Insurance Survey 2026, and it described how AI is accelerating the cyber threat landscape.
