AIG executive chair Zaffino to exit board, join Palantir in 2027
AIG said Peter Zaffino will leave the board Sept. 15, as CEO Eric Anderson takes over executive leadership on June 1.
AIG said its former chief executive officer and current executive chair Peter Zaffino will leave the board effective Sept. 15 to join Palantir Technologies as global head of financial services, with a senior advisor role at AIG afterward.
Zaffino transitioned to executive chair on June 1, after serving as AIG CEO starting in March 2021 and succeeding Brian Duperreault. AIG said Eric Anderson, most recently on Aon’s executive committee, became AIG’s CEO on June 1.
AIG also said John Rice, the lead independent director, will serve as chair when Zaffino departs. Rice has been lead independent director since the start of 2023, and previously held roles at GE Gas Power and GE’s Global Growth Organization.
Palantir said Zaffino will start at the company on Jan. 15, 2027, aiming to drive growth across Palantir’s financial services business, including insurance and other financial institutions. The article also links Zaffino’s AIG tenure to a partnership with Palantir focused on using AI to improve underwriting, including AIG’s launch of Lloyd’s Syndicate 2479 and the use of large language models to assess alignment with risk appetite.
