Candor launches Candor DI to automate mortgage document intake and checks

The document intelligence tool splits, renames and routes files into a lender’s LOS, then compares extracted data against URLA, credit report and AUS findings, flagging discrepancies with an audit trail.

Candor Technology has introduced Candor DI, a standalone or API-driven document intelligence engine designed to automate mortgage document intake and reconcile borrower data across sources before a loan reaches underwriting, HousingWire reports.

The system indexes, classifies and routes documents into the lender’s loan origination system, automatically extracting key fields and comparing them with the Uniform Residential Loan Application, credit report and automated underwriting system findings. It also flags cross-source discrepancies at the point of intake, with a source-level audit trail.

Candor positions the product as a way to surface errors, omissions and mismatches early, aiming to reduce downstream processor rework and shorten loan cycle times. The company said Candor DI is built to align with Fannie Mae’s LL-2026-04 and Freddie Mac Guide Section 1302.8 on AI use, including documented validation controls around data extraction.

In an early use case, The Federal Savings Bank reported time savings of 15 to 20 minutes per loan file from automated document extraction, organization and renaming, according to HousingWire. Candor CEO Ryan Edmonds said validating data across sources at intake helps prevent bad data from driving bad decisions later in the process.
