Dow Jones slips as Iran strikes confirmation undercuts stocks

The index fell to fresh session lows after the operation confirmation, while Treasury yields pushed higher, including the 10-year at its highest intraday level since January 2025.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded near 52,750, about 450 points lower and down 0.85% on the day, as the market sank to fresh session lows following a Central Command confirmation that American forces began striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets inside Iran, according to FXStreet.

A recovery that had briefly taken the DJIA back above 53,000 stalled below 53,200 and reversed within the hour, with the outlet noting that Tuesday’s U.S. data did not appear to remove support.

FXStreet said the change in the tape reflected a shift from speculation to a confirmed escalation rhythm, after tankers in the Strait of Hormuz were hit and the American response was announced, alongside signs that the region’s output remains below pre-war levels and crude oil has been supported again.

The same report linked the broader repricing to higher yields after the session, including a 10-year Treasury trading up to 4.78%, with the 30-year near 5.30% and the two-year around 4.34%, as economic indicators showed cooling demand and manufacturing new orders, while yields pressured equity valuation.
