Inszone buys Corporate Insurance Group to address succession pressures
Inszone said it completed 33 acquisitions in the first half of 2026, and the deal adds specialty commercial lines to a platform operating in 25 states.
Inszone Insurance Services has acquired Corporate Insurance Group after the agency’s founder, Mark Sharpe, faced retirement and chose a sale over winding down or continuing alone, Insurance Business reports. Sharpe’s longtime business partner had been preparing to retire, and Sharpe agreed to stay on after the transaction so clients would continue to be served. Inszone did not disclose the financial terms. The acquired agency, founded by Sharpe in 1999, operates fully remotely across Tennessee, Mississippi, and Texas. It writes workers’ compensation, commercial auto, and general liability, with niche expertise in personal care services, adult day care, artisan contractors, and non-emergency medical transportation. The story highlights succession as a primary driver of independent agency consolidation in commercial insurance. Insurance Business cites OPTIS Partners data showing North American insurance agency acquisitions fell to 292 in the first half of 2026, down 15% year over year and 24% below the previous five-year average, while valuations stayed high for well-run specialty-focused firms. It also points to the scale of the market, noting there are nearly 39,000 independent P and C agencies in the US and that only 750 to 800 change hands annually, alongside research that more than 60% of agency principals lack a written perpetuation plan.
