Scoular hosts winter canola meetings as planting window nears
Scoular says its Goodland, Kansas oilseed crush facility can process 11 million bushels (300,000 tonnes) annually, supplying canola oil for renewable diesel feedstock.
With winter canola planting underway across the US High Plains, Scoular is holding regional producer meetings over the next few weeks focused on demand growth for the oilseed crop and potential benefits for farmers.
Two years ago, Scoular opened an oilseed crush facility in Goodland, Kansas to supply canola oil as feedstock for renewable diesel. The plant can process 11 million bushels (300,000 tonnes) of oilseeds annually, or about 33,287 bushels (907 tonnes) per day, and Scoular also offers delivery points across Oklahoma and Kansas.
Scoular said US farmers planted nearly 3 million acres of canola in 2026, up 27% from the year before, with Kansas and Oklahoma canola acres rising to more than 50,000 from about 15,000 three years earlier. It added that there is still time to plant winter canola, with a Sept. 1-30 window in Kansas and Sept. 10-Oct. 10 in Oklahoma.
The company also highlighted management guidance for growers considering a wheat-canola rotation, saying it can improve profitability by up to 20% versus continuous wheat, and it offers tools and training through its Canola MVP program. Scoular linked the broader push to an executive order signed by President Donald Trump in June that promises federal support for regenerative agriculture, along with USDA’s Regenerative Feedstock Rule that prioritizes feedstock crops with low carbon intensity, according to World Grain.
