South Korea intelligence says Kim Ju-ae is effectively North Korea’s heir

South Korea’s National Intelligence Service told lawmakers it views Kim Ju-ae as having moved into the stage of being designated successor, while also pointing to more frequent state-media appearances.

North Korea has not publicly named or confirmed Kim Ju-ae as Kim Jong-un’s heir, but South Korea’s spy agency now says the evidence is conclusive, according to the South China Morning Post.

HousingWire reports that the National Intelligence Service assessment was delivered in a closed-door briefing to South Korea’s National Assembly intelligence committee, and it was shared with journalists by Youn Kun-young of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea.

In the briefing, South Korea’s intelligence agency said Kim Ju-ae has effectively entered the stage of being designated as successor, and it attributed her increasing appearances in state media to a deliberate effort to build her image among North Korean audiences.

The report said the agency described these messages as part of an imprinting effort, without noting any official confirmation from North Korea on her status.
