Tim Cook gets $47m package as Apple executive chair
Half of the share award is tied to performance targets, and the deal follows Cook’s CEO compensation topping $74m in 2025.
Tim Cook is receiving a $47 million compensation package as Apple executive chair, after handing over the CEO role to John Ternus on Tuesday, according to the Guardian Business.
The package includes a $2 million base salary and $45 million in shares, with half of the share award linked to performance targets and the remainder paid out over four years. Ternus will receive a $3 million base salary and a $55 million share award with a higher performance weighting.
The outlet reports that Cook’s total compensation as CEO for 2025 exceeded $74 million. Apple’s market value is about $4.7 trillion, and the stock has risen 2,200% since Cook took charge in 2011.
The Guardian Business also notes that Cook will take on a mandate that includes engaging with policymakers worldwide and maintaining Apple’s relationship with Donald Trump. Ternus’s first major public appearance is expected at Apple’s annual iPhone event on 9 September, where a foldable handset is anticipated.
