Tokio Marine HCC names new cyber underwriting leader and Marsh appoints marine head

The appointments take effect immediately for Tokio Marine HCC’s cyber underwriting role and on October 1 for Marsh’s U.S. and Canada marine, cargo, and logistics practice leader.

Tokio Marine HCC’s Cyber and Professional Lines Group, a Houston-based unit of the Tokio Marine HCC group, appointed Brian Alva as senior vice president of underwriting to lead its cyber and tech underwriting business, according to Insurance Journal.

Alva joins from Travelers, where he served as vice president of specialty cyber, and brings more than 15 years of cyber and professional liability experience spanning underwriting leadership, portfolio strategy, product development, and distribution.

Insurance Journal also said Marsh appointed Herman Brito as marine, cargo, and logistics practice leader for the U.S. and Canada within Marsh Risk, effective October 1.

Brito, based in New York, will report to Michael Pellegrini and succeed Janice Kowell, who will remain part of Marsh’s senior executive team, with responsibility for delivering tailored risk advisory and insurance solutions to maritime, cargo, and logistics clients across the region.
