Trump says US is striking Iranian targets near Strait of Hormuz

The president also said Iran shot eight missiles at a US base in Jordan, and all were “knocked down” successfully.

US President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the United States is carrying out strikes on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz, describing the action as retaliation for Iran’s alleged failed attempt to add sea mines to the strait, which he said currently has no mines.

Trump said Tehran shot eight missiles at a US military base in Jordan, and that all eight were successfully knocked down.

He added that if Iran retaliates, the US would respond “at a much harder and higher level,” and he claimed there would be little left of Iran after the overall situation concludes.
