US launches strikes on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz

The White House said the strikes followed an Iranian attempt to add sea mines to the Strait that, according to the statement, had been removed or detonated.

According to a TruthSocial post, President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States is striking Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz. The post characterizes the strikes as large and powerful and links the action to an alleged Iranian attempt to add sea mines to the Strait.

The statement also says Iran shot eight missiles at a US military base in Jordan, and that all were knocked down. It further warns that if Iran retaliates, further strikes would follow at a higher level.

A reported Iranian military source told Forexlive that Iran plans to respond to the attacks in multiple ways and that American interests and bases in the region are being targeted rapidly. The source did not provide additional details beyond that characterization.
