Boeing flags $8.4B Spirit acquisition liabilities after closing

The purchase, announced in December, has led Boeing to uncover large liabilities that were not identified initially.

Boeing has said its roughly $8.4 billion purchase of Spirit AeroSystems is turning into a financial drag, after the company uncovered sizable liabilities it had not previously identified, according to WSJ Markets.

WSJ Markets reports that Boeing bought Spirit AeroSystems in December and has since found additional obligations tied to the acquisition that are increasing losses.

The disclosure centers on the gap between what Boeing initially understood before the deal and what it has since determined, leaving the acquisition under heightened financial pressure.
