Former Hong Kong lawmaker William Wong faces four criminal charges

Police say Wong, arrested in July after a crash at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, is scheduled to appear in Sha Tin Court next Wednesday.

Former Hong Kong lawmaker William Wong Kam-fai will appear in court next week to face four criminal charges, including dangerous driving, Hong Kong police confirmed to the SCMP Economy.

The allegations stem from a crash two months earlier, when Wong allegedly drove and hit two parked vehicles at the Chinese University of Hong Kong campus while intoxicated, then drove away and later parked elsewhere.

Police said the charges include driving under the influence of alcohol, dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, and failing to report an accident.

Wong was arrested in July after the incident was reported by a security guard, and after his arrest he apologised for causing inconvenience to the Legislative Council and for resigning from his role, the outlet reported.
