Gallagher names Steve Munday managing partner for renewables practice
Munday, who has nearly 40 years in insurance, joins Gallagher from WTW where he led the global renewable practice and London renewables team for 10 years.
Global insurance broker Gallagher has appointed Steve Munday as Managing Partner of Natural Resources, with responsibility for expanding Gallagher’s client portfolio, services, and capabilities in its renewables practice area, according to Reinsurance News.
In the role, Munday will report to Julian Raven, CEO of Natural Resources, and work alongside Duncan Gordon, Head of Renewable Energy at Gallagher. Munday brings nearly 40 years of insurance industry experience, including a focus on renewable, clean, and low-carbon energy transition sectors for about two decades.
Gallagher said Munday joins from WTW, where he led the global renewable practice and the London renewables team for the past 10 years. Earlier career roles include positions at Marsh, Aon Risk Solutions, Jardine Lloyd Thompson, General Accident Insurance, Legal & General, and RSA.
In comments carried by the outlet, Raven described Munday as a strong hire for Gallagher’s team given his advisory, consulting, and transactional background, and said the renewables sector is expanding rapidly. Gordon added that Gallagher’s specialist approach to risk management will be further strengthened as Munday supports clients across their risk profiles, while Munday cited Gallagher’s people-driven culture and commitment to speciality solutions for global clients.
